Cascade Christian outscored Brookings-Harbor 18-8 in the second quarter, gaining the separation to keep the Bruins at bay for a 61-49 victory in their FWL league opener. Layne Collom scored three threes for a game high 17.
BHS got behind Cascade Christian’s defense on a few occasions early to stake a first quarter lead. The Challengers put the clamps on a team with a height advantage over them, forcing turnovers and giving Cascade fast break opportunities.
While Cody Reece was hampered by foul trouble. Kai Coster stepped up for a 10-point performance off the Cascade bench. Kiegan Schaan and Donminic Lewis added 11, and Nathan Spurlock and Braydn Coppedge furnished the defensive physicality.
