At times, the basketball game between Cascade Christian and Brookings-Harbor looked more like a football game or hockey match. The visiting Challengers shot 20 free throws, while the Bruins shot 31 in a decision- more like a TKO- won by the home team.
For the Bruins, the difference was a higher field goal percentage- 43 to 36- and the freew throw line, where BHHS converted 23 to the Challengers 13.
Donminic Lewis led Cascade Christian with a career-high 28 points, on a night where no other Challenger reached double figures. Matt McPheeters came off the bench for nine points- including 7 for 10 free throw shooting.
The loss was Cascade’s first in conference play. They maintain first place all to themselves, as St. Mary’s upset Sutherlin on the Bulldogs’ home floor. Sutherlin is where the 5-1 Challengers play next- on Tuesday night.
