Challengers News · Track & Field: Boys Relays, Strain & Samhammer Each Win Twice

With wins in the Boys 4×100 and 4×400 relays, and a pair of wins each for Madalynn Strain and Sierra Samhammer, it was an eventful day for Cascade Christian at a meet in Pleasant Hill, featuring the Challengers, Brookings-Harbor, Douglas, La Pine, Lowell, Mapleton, Mohawk and Pleasant Hill.

Strain earned first place in the shot put, and the discus- where she posted a PR of 100-05.50. Samhammer won the long jump and the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best of 51.55. Sierra- who just returned from a BMX racing event last weekend- finished second in the 100 meter hurdles and third in the 100 meter run as well.

Elsewhere in girls competition- Kat Devitt won the 100 meter hurdles, running a PR of 17.82. Devitt took second in the 100 meter run and third in the 200 meters. Katie Erno finished second in the 800- her first time running the event this season. Rose Hehn captured a top five finish in the 1500.  Jerushah Purrier placed fifth in the 100 meters.

In boy’s competition- Elijah Nehf, Kristian Fralich, Tyler Almasy and Will Pierson cruised to victory in the 4×100 relay. Nehf, Almasy, Fralich and Luke Wilson won the 4×400.

Will Pierson earned a first-place finish in the high jump with a 5-08.

Fralich took second in the 100 with a PR of 11.69, and the senior also PR’ed in his second place run in the 200 with a 24.15. Nehf finished fifth in the 100.

In other field events- Matt Moses finished second in the shot put with a 39.11, and he was fourth in the discus. With a throw of 132-03, Will Pierson captured second in the javelin. Nehf took fifth place. Ethan Rathburn placed fourth in the triple jump with a PR of 38-00.
