Oregon Episcopal demonstrated why they are the number two boy’s soccer program in the Oregon 3A/2A/1A ranks. With skill, experience, and power, the Aardvarks scored a 9-0 shut out over 15th seeded Cascade Christian in the first round of the playoffs.
The Aardvarks scored twice in the first five minutes, setting the tone for the evening. The Portland-area school, like many other soccer powers in the Portland area, field no football team; thus, you have a fully stocked soccer program that boasts a varsity, junior varsity, JV2 team, and a freshman team.
A testament to the character of the Challengers is they played all out even as the possibility of winning slipped away. Caleb Knight had a number of saves at goalkeeper, and Jonny McCoy and Ryan Crowl were the only players with shots on goal; good attempts swept away by Oregon Episcopal’s goalkeeper.
To seniors Knight, Cody Havniear, JJ Thomas, and David Flores-Hernandez- thank you for your dedication and talents. It’s been a joy to have you with us. In a rebuilding year, the Challengers went 9-5-2.
