Challengers News · Football: Challengers 3rd in OSAA Coach’s Poll

The Cascade Christian Challengers- state runners up for the Oregon 3A state championship- are ranked third in the state in a pre-season poll of Oregon coaches. So much for sneaking up on anyone.

Defending state champion Rainier is ranked first, while Clatskanie follows at number two. The Columbians garnered seven first place votes, while Cascade Christian and Clatskanie earned one each. Fourth-ranked Amity received two first-place votes.

Vale rounds out the top five, followed by Santiam Christian, Madras, Burns, Nyssa, and the Challengers’ crosstown rival St. Mary’s. Scio, Dayton, and Blanchet Catholic also received votes.

Coach Jon Gettman and company receive their first test Friday night at home against the 4A Phoenix Pirates of the Skyline Conference. The game starts at 7 pm, and will be broadcast via audio streaming on The Nail.
