Four members of the Cascade Christian softball squad have earned First Team All-Conference honors. The Challengers recently earned a trip to the Oregon 3A softball semifinals, posted a brilliant 22-8 record, and earned a #3 ranking.
First baseman Mallory Meilicke hit .475 and launched three home runs, drove in 43 runs, and scored 38 times. She also swiped 13 bases, and hit clean-up for the Challengers. Mallory will play at the college level for Corban University next year.
Katelyn Willard was a force at pitcher, and as a hitter. She figured in every decision for Cascade Christian, putting up a 22-8 record, and striking out 257 hitters in 189 innings of work. Offensively, Katelyn hit .392, scored 36 runs, and drove in 32. In addition, she stole 12 bases.
Audrey Quast patrolled center field. She hit .333 with a home run and five runs batted in. She led the team in walks, stolen bases, and on-base percentage in the leadoff spot.
Kara Palmer enjoyed a breakout year playing third base. Palmer hit .255 with a home run and 29 RBIs. She smacked 10 doubles and scored 16 runs.
Catcher Ali Modrell, and infielders Rebecca Clark and Mia Mayben secured sond team honors. Mayben will play for national champion Southern Oregon University next season, while Clark and Modrell will join Palmer and Willard in providing a nucleus for next year’s team, along with Emily Knight and Neha Joseph.
